New cabinet wants to build public IT systems anew
PM Igor Matovič (OĽaNO) and Deputy PM Veronika Remišová (Za ľudí) are considering using the huge inflow of EU funds in the coming years to replace as many public IT systems as possible with brand new ones. The state does not own most of its current IT systems, is dependent on vendors, and pays €700m annually in operating costs. They blame Peter Pellegrini, Smer’s digital czar of many years.
