The European Commission approved Slovak employment assistance totaling €2bn. The government intends to support 400,000 workers and 300,000 sole traders. For sole traders, the assistance will come to €180 a month if their sales are down 20%, up to €540 for those with over an 80% drop. Companies the government forced to close will get 80% of wages reimbursed, up to €1,100 a month per worker. The government is now able to start paying the assistance. No company or sole trader has been paid any assistance so far, but labor offices have already approved it for 15,000 companies.
