Plan for the gradual opening of the economy
PM Igor Matovič presented a plan for the gradual opening of the economy. Starting on Wednesday, April 22, he will allow to reopen all stores and services under 300 sqm, restaurants serving food via a window, outdoor sports facilities, long-term accommodation facilities, outdoor marketplaces, and car showrooms. In two weeks, hotels, restaurants, hairdressers, taxis, and churches could be given a green light. If the situation does not deteriorate, all restrictions might be lifted on June 3―schools, cinemas and theaters will open and all cultural and sporting events will be allowed. The plan will only be followed through if the number of new Covid-19 cases remains below 100 per day. Matovič warned that especially the final opening might happen later. Face masks and 2 meter social distancing are remaining in place. Retailers will cut opening hours for seniors to two hours per day and eliminate them on Saturdays. Stores will still be closed on Sundays.
