Pepco is highly profitable and does not fear crisis
Pepco, a chain of discount stores selling clothing and home accessories, has 100 stores in Slovakia and wants 15 openings this year. Last year, it increased net profit 16% to €10.1m and its sales soared 21% to €85.5m. Thanks to high profits (€33.6m since 2013) it is able to withstand the current store closures. Still, it will have to cope with heavy discounts, or storage, on seasonal goods. It does not plan to lay off any of its 800 workers. It has no immediate plans to open an online store.
