Despite many scandals over the past four years, the current ruling parties have a substantial chance of being in government again after next year’s election. The opposition parties have failed to present a credible alternative. The police launched a probe into old statements of Michal Truban, the PS/Spolu leader, who seems to have encouraged young people to take illicit drugs. SaS is facing the departure of several prominent MPs. Igor Matovič, the OĽaNO leader, has bad-mouthed the leaders of the PS/Spolu, KDH and Za ľudí parties in an interview for .týždeň. It comes as no surprise that PS/Spolu’s popularity has shrunk from 18% in the summer to the current 13%, and the KDH, SaS and OĽaNO parties are just above the 5% threshold to enter parliament.
