€8,000 subsidies for electric cars
The Economy Ministry will launch new subsidies totaling €8,000 towards the purchase of electric cars and €5,000 for plug-in hybrids on December 1. The subsidy will only be available for cars priced below €50,000. Municipalities, companies, and individuals will be eligible. The ministry has allocated €5m for the scheme. Starting in January 2020 electric cars will get license plates in different colors, allowing them entry into low-emission zones and bus lanes.
The ministry is not working on a ’cash for clunkers’ scheme, paying subsidies to owners that scrap their old cars.
