Parliament weakened forest protection

Environmental activists warn that the revision to the Nature Protection Act approved by parliament on Wednesday weakens forest protection, contrary to the revision’s intentions. They say the revision violates EU legislation. All decision powers stayed with the Agriculture Ministry and natural park administrators as well as public remained powerless. Exemptions from bans on logging will remain very flexible.
