The Nitra plant of Jaguar Land Rover will produce the electric versions of the Defender and Discovery models, say sources of the Sme daily. It is unclear whether these will be purely electric cars or hybrid ones. The car maker declined to comment. So far, it has only confirmed the production of electric cars in its English plants.
The Bratislava plant of VW makes the electric model VW e-UP! and hybrid models VW Touareg and Audi Q7. The Trnava plant of PSA will launch the production of an electric version of the Peugeot 208 this fall. The Žilina plant of Kia Motors makes a hybrid version of the Kia Sportage.
