Achmea is suing Slovakia over ban on distributing dividends
Dutch firm Achmea, owner of the health insurer Union, has filed charges against Slovakia in Slovak courts demanding €30m in compensation for the ban on distributing dividends in 2006-07. Penta, which owns another health insurer Dôvera, is suing the state too, demanding €178m in compensation (plus €280m in interest). Penta and Achmea tried their luck with international arbitration first, but failed.
