After years of stagnation, the Slovak beer market is recovering
After years of stagnation, the Slovak beer market has risen by 5% annually in both 2017 and 2018. Market leader Heineken, with 42% of the market, posted a 2% sales increase last year. The growth was driven mainly by radlers, but the sale of beer rose too, mainly of premium brands. Heineken is investing €3m in its brewery in Hurbanov this year to a 30% increase in the capacity of its canning line. The consumption of canned beer is growing and the plant not only makes beer for the Slovak market, but for Hungary as well.
Plzenské pivovary’s brewery in Veľký Šariš has recently launched a similar project. It is also increasing the capacity of its canning line by a third.
