Employers condemned SNS plan to abolish mandatory English in schools

Employers condemned Education Minister Martina Lubyová’s (SNS) plan to abolish mandatory English in schools. The SNS wants to let schools and pupils choose from six languages, including Russian. Companies argue the demand for English speakers is the highest. Over a third of job offers at profesia.sk require English, while all other languages are required by fewer than 1% of the offers. Schools also prefer keeping the current system that they have already built capacities for.
