Robert Fico is getting revenge for his forced resignation
Smer leader Robert Fico is getting revenge for his forced resignation in March following mass protests organized by the Decency in Slovakia group in the wake of the murder of reporter Ján Kuciak. The anti-corruption police unit NAKA, led by Peter Hraško with links to oligarch Miroslav Bödör and ex-minister Robert Kaliňák, has been inviting the protest organizers for interviews in the past week, and has been demanding their bank account statements. NAKA is acting on an anonymous tip alleging that the protests were organized by George Soros. This version has been peddled by Fico. Last year, NAKA did not interrogate Marian Kočner after his death threats to Kuciak.
President Andrej Kiska and opposition parties accuse NAKA of bullying and intimidation. Decency in Slovakia has called another protest for Friday.
