Young people in Vienna should learn Slovak and look for jobs in Bratislava

Young people in Vienna should learn Slovak and look for jobs in Bratislava, recommends a study by the Vienna institute WIIW. Bratislava has a 3.5% unemployment rate and acute labor shortages, while Vienna suffers from a jobless rate of 10%, double the country’s average. One problem in this line of thinking is that wages in Bratislava are less than half that in Vienna. This is reflected in just 400 Austrians working in Slovakia, while over 50,000 Slovaks work in Austria.
