Investments in farming

“Next year, we plan a €70-100m investment into farming,“ said Agriculture Minister Gabriela Matečná (SNS). The money will come from the new special levy on retailers, the state budget, and EU funds, and will finance the creation of new risk and marketing funds for farmers, as well as the renovation of irrigation systems. The risk fund will insure farmers against draught and rain, as well as low and high crop yields. The marketing fund will run campaigns in support of Slovak foodstuffs. The value of the new sectoral levy has not been disclosed.
