Army’s massive modernization drive

Defense Minister Peter Gajdoš (SNS) announced another military investment: the €120m purchase of radars. Initially, the Army had planned to purchase mid-range radars for €60m, but Gajdoš canceled the tender. Now, he wants to purchase short- and near-range radars as well. This is a part of a massive modernization drive that also includes new fighter jets (€1.6bn), transporters (€1.2bn), Zuzana cannons (€175m) and equipment for Black Hawk helicopters (no price tag). Gajdoš wants to sign all the purchases by 2020.
