Tomáš Drucker as new Interior Minister, Laššáková spreads conspiracy theories

President Andrej Kiska refused to appoint new cabinet members proposed by Peter Pellegrini. He mainly objected to Jozef Ráž’s nomination to the post of Interior Minister. “The last thing we need are endless discussions about who was with whom on motorbikes and at birthday parties,” was his response to a photo from Robert Kaliňák’s birthday party featuring Ráž. Kiska also allegedly opposed the nominations of Richard Raši (Deputy PM for Investments) and Ján Richter (Labor).

Pellegrini responded immediately by nominating Tomáš Drucker, the current Health Minister, as Interior Minister. Drucker is not a Smer member, and the party calls him a crisis manager. Drucker is to be replaced by his deputy, Andrea Kalavská, as Health Minister. Pellegrini plans no further changes in his list of ministers. Kiska will meet the new cabinet member nominees today.

Ľubica Laššáková, nominated by Pellegrini as Culture Minister, follows in Robert Fico’s footsteps by spreading conspiracy theories. She said that “Soros plays various games” to influence events in Slovakia, for instance by secretly funding various NGOs.
