Kaliňák should resign, says Bugár

Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák (Smer) should resign, said Béla Bugár, leader of Smer’s coalition partner, Most-Híd. He added that there is no need to sacrifice the government. He believes Smer will react promptly, as “the Prime Minister is aware of the situation’s gravity.“ Sources of aktuality.sk say Justice Minister Lucia Žitňanská (Most-Híd) will resign if Kaliňák does not step down in seven days. The reason is the links Smer’s representatives have to the Italian mafia. This is also the reason for Most-Híd to demand that foreign investigators join the team looking into the murder of Ján Kuciak.

The other ruling party, SNS, is not demanding Kaliňák’s resignation. The party wants to provide time for police work.
