Cintra finds it difficult to build the Bratislava highway bypass
The N daily doubts the ability of the consortium of Spanish firm Cintra and Austrian firm Porr to start building the Bratislava highway bypass. Transport Minister Árpád Érsek says the construction will commence in March. The consortium, though, so far has no contract with any large Slovak construction firm. Slovak firms point to the low offered price and the consortium’s unprofessional approach. Slovak firms are also apparently trying to chase new competitors away. Since the government was over a year late with granting building permits, its position in imposing any sanctions on the consortium is weak. The bypass’ construction is set to complicate the already difficult traffic situation in the city for years to come.
