Some 300,000 Slovaks work abroad
Some 70,000 Slovaks left the country after Christmas holidays spent at home, most for work, but some as students. About a third left for Austria, where wages are still much higher. This stems from data of Market Locator agency, which has access to information about clients of Slovak Telekom’s mobile phone services. This confirmed earlier estimates that about 300,000 Slovaks work abroad. Not even falling unemployment has brought about a massive return home.
