Slovak companies lead in weather software development

Several Slovak companies developing weather prediction software and making weather devices are among the world leaders in their fields. IBL Software Engineering (Michal Weis) saw a 5% increase in sales to €5.9m in 2016, and its net profit stagnated at €2m. Its weather software is used in 80 countries and its clients include meteorological offices, NATO, and Airbus. It is a strategic partner for the British Met Office, a global standard setter. It is expanding, thanks to high demand. MicroStep-MIS (Jozef Omelka) posted a 25% drop in net profit to €0.6m and a 24% drop in sales to €7.6m in 2016. It makes weather systems for airports. Barani Design (owned by Ján Baráni and with annual sales of €2m) makes wind anemometers and weather stations.
