HB Reavis and J&T Real Estate withdrew application for significant investment status

Developers HB Reavis and J&T Real Estate withdrew their application for the significant investment status for their €2bn projects in Bratislava (Nové Lido, Eurovea, and Stanica Nivy). The application had the support of deputy PM Peter Pellegrini (Smer), but the other coalition parties, Most-Híd and SNS, opposed it. The status would allow the developers a fast-track approval process, land expropriation, and would waive €60m in local development fees. The projects will create housing for 50,000 people as well as shops and offices; without the status, they will be built more slowly. The Bratislava districts also opposed the status; they wanted a proper discussion and approval process as well as their development fee.
