Nafta invests massively

Nafta plans to invest €178m into a new underground gas storage facility in Veľké Kapušany, in an excavated natural gas repository. The facility, with its 339m cubic meter capacity, will expand Nafta’s total capacity to 2.7bn cubic meters. Its remaining storage facilities are in Záhorie. It expects to open the facility for business in 2023. Veľké Kapušany is on the current international gas pipeline from Russia, and its operator, eustream, plans to build a new pipeline, Eastring, to Bulgaria from there. Nafta and eustream are controlled by EPH (Daniel Křetínský). Last year, Nafta posted a 23% drop in net profit to €79.6m and a 21% drop in sales to €157.0m.
