Steel pipe maker Železiarne Podbrezová (Vladimír Soták) will put photovoltaic panels on all its roofs by the end of this year, building the largest rooftop PV plant in Slovakia at a cost of €3m. Chemical plant Duslo Šaľa (Andrej Babiš) is going to invest €100m in PV and wind power plants, and meat processor Tauris (Milan Fiľo) plans to install PV panels on roofs of all four plants. For decades, Železiarne has operated five small hydroelectric plants with a total capacity of 5.3 MW, which cover a tenth of its power consumption. Last year, it reported a €6m net profit and runs at full capacity this year as well despite softer demand.
