ÚRSO wants SE to supply electricity to domestic customers at affordable prices
Jozef Holjenčík, new head of the energy regulator ÚRSO, wants to change the regulation of electricity prices for households so that Slovenské elektrárne (under the control of EPH) would supply electricity to domestic customers at affordable prices. SE mainly has nuclear power plants and its costs are fixed, as it has already purchased nuclear fuel for five years. Holjenčík emphasizes he "does not want to hinder the free energy market." He wants to abolish subsidies to large power consumers through TPS, a tariff for system services. He considers the current support for photovoltaics and wind power to be excessive and will review it. He wants to return to the use of Russian gas and considers the EU's efforts to wean off Russian energy "sick".
