In 2024, young people in the EU left their parents’ homes at an average age of 26.2 years, Eurostat reported. Since 2002, the figure has been relatively stable. Last year, the highest averages were in Croatia (31.3), Slovakia (30.9), and Greece (30.7), while the lowest were in Finland (21.4), Denmark (21.7), and Sweden (21.9). Data show housing costs are a key factor.
