United Classifieds suspect of abusing dominant position on the real estate web portals market
PMÚ, the anti-trust authority, has launched a probe into the potential abuse of a dominant position on the real estate web portals market. United Classifieds, a company owned by Ringier (60%) and Penta that runs Slovakia’s most popular real estate sites nehnutelnosti.sk, topreality.sk, and reality.sk with 95% market share, stands accused of abusing its power in relation to realtors―it provided discounts only to select realtors and conditioned the discounts on using other products. It may be fined 10% of its annual sales. It had been in the red in recent years and had €6.7m sales in 2020.
