U.S. Steel demands state assistance

Finance Minister Igor Matovič (OĽaNO) is in Pittsburgh talking to U.S. Steel management on state assistance for its Košice steel mill. Slovakia’s Recovery Fund allocated €363m for industrial decarbonization projects. The Košice steel mill employs 9,400. (sme.sk) It is considering adding electric arc furnaces to its current blast furnaces, cutting its CO2 emissions 60% by 2025 compared to 2018 while keeping its current production volume.
