TMR ski resorts will open this winter
Tatry mountain resorts (Igor Rattaj), owner of tourist resorts in Slovakia, Czechia, Poland, and Austria, has already bought electricity for 2023 and part of 2024. It will therefore start ski resorts for the winter, but will increase skipass prices. Due to higher prices and the economic slowdown, it expects lower numbers of skiers. The company is satisfied with the summer season, as its sales rose despite the lower number of visitors (Slovaks preferred beaches this summer). It does not plan to sell its Polish resorts, although their financial results are worse than expected. Rattaj calls on the government to cut VAT for tourism. The company's water parks (Tatralandia and Bešeňová) use geothermal energy and are therefore not affected by the rise in energy prices.
