Stellantis is investing €180m in Trnava
French Stellantis decided to invest €180m in its plant in Trnava and move production of three new models, some of them electric, there to replace the current model Citroën C3. The C3 model accounted for 53% of the plant’s output last year, with Peugeot 208 being the other model. The government promised financial assistance for the investment as well as other ’green’ projects in the plant. Some of that assistance will be funded by the EU. The plant competed for the new models with 24 other European Stellantis plants, e.g., with those in Poland and Serbia. The plant employs 4,000 and its direct suppliers another 20,000. The new investment won’t create new jobs.
The Bratislava Volkswagen plant has recently announced it will make the VW Passat and Škoda Superb models and the Žilina Kia plant will make the latest Sportage model generation. The Nitra Jaguar Land Rover plant’s production is rising gradually.
