State budget deficit up 69% to €7.7bn

The state budget, the major component of public finances, posted a cash deficit of €7.7bn last year, up 69% annually. The plan was an €8.3bn deficit. Budget revenues came to €23.7bn, up 25% annually but 11% below budget. Expenditures stood at €31.4bn (+33% annually and -11% against plan). Compared to plans, higher pensions and child allowances increased expenditure. EU funds spending was weak, €4.1bn against the planned €5.7bn.
