The state-owned energy company SPP says it is ready to maintain Slovakia's energy security and stable gas supplies beyond 2024. Ukraine recently announced that it will no longer ship Russian gas to the EU from 2025 and Russia until recently covered almost all of Slovakia's gas consumption. However, SPP has signed diversification contracts with large multinational companies over the past year and can now cover most of its customers' needs from non-Russian sources. The contracts were concluded for 2023-24 and SPP is negotiating their extension. Russian gas is still flowing to Slovakia and covers most of Slovakia's consumption, as SPP has a contract with Russia's Gazprom until 2034. Gazprom is not honoring it and is sending less than the agreed volumes.
