Sme rodina MP admitted to paying €50,000 to police officers

Sme rodina MP Martin Borguľa admitted to paying €50,000 to police officers Bernard Slobodník and Marián Kučerka in 2018 to stop a police probe into his meddling in BVS water utility contracts. At that time, Borgula was a Bratislava Old Town councilor for Smer. He claims that he was blackmailed by the policemen and that it was not bribery, but racketeering. He paid to prevent negative media coverage.

Sme rodina leader Boris Kollár called on Interior Minister Roman Mikulec (OĽaNO) to resign. He will not raise hand for his dismissal in parliament, though. OĽaNO MP Milan Vetrák says Borguľa is “one of the worst cases in municipal politics, involved in many businesses that went beyond the law.“
