Following criticism from the government, city officials, and activists, Slovnaft cut the planned capacity of its waste incinerator by 30% to 220,000 tons annually. It will focus more on industrial waste, and expected costs jumped by over 50% to €320m. The project is undergoing an environmental impact assessment. Critics said the original capacity could likely only be filled by importing waste.
