Slovenské elektrárne among climate leaders
The Financial Times daily named Slovenské elektrárne among climate leaders again this year, as it did in 2021-23. SE reduced its emissions intensity by 45% in 2017-22 and avoided more than a million tons of CO2 emissions. Last year, SE delivered 97% emission-free electricity thanks to low-carbon sources such as nuclear and hydro. Last year it shut down the Nováky coal-fired power plant and this year also the coal plant in Vojany. It is completing the fourth unit of Mochovce and is working on small modular nuclear reactors, battery systems in Dobšiná, Mikšová, and Čierny Váh, as well as a 10 MW photovoltaic power plant in Nováky.
