Slovakia will apparently lose €24m in International Investment Bank
The US has put the International Investment Bank, majority owned by Russia, on its sanctions list and although Slovakia left the bank in January this year, the US move will make it harder for Slovakia to get the €24m it is owed by the bank. The Budapest-based bank, according to leaked documents, tried to circumvent Western sanctions against Russia after the Russian invasion with the help of Hungary.
In 2017, the bank lent Slovenské elektrárne €60m for Mochovce completion. In 2004, it provided €8m to Georgian businessman Nodari Giorgadze for building a water world in Bešeňová. In 2015, it granted a €22.5m loan to Tatravagónka.
