Slovakia's automotive sector is not lagging behind in transformation to electric cars

Slovakia's automotive sector is not lagging behind in transformation from internal combustion engines to electric cars and has so far bet mainly on hybrids, reckons the Financial Policy Institute. Electric and hybrid vehicles accounted for 35% of Slovak car exports in value terms from January to October 2023. This share continues to grow, a good prospect for Slovak exports. The four local car plants are investing in new production lines for electric and hybrid cars, and in 2027 Volvo's plant near Košice will start production of all-electric cars.
