Slovakia is the 4th poorest country in the EU, if you believe Eurostat’s data on GDP adjusted for purchasing power standards. In 2024, GDP per capita ranged between 66% of the EU average in Bulgaria and 241% in Luxembourg. Frequent changes and methodological discrepancies somewhat discredit Eurostat’s PPS data.
GDP per capita in PPS as a share of EU average:
| 2024 | 2014 |
Austria | 115% | 129% |
Czechia | 91% | 88% |
Poland | 79% | 68% |
Hungary | 77% | 69% |
Slovakia | 75% | 78% |
