Slovakia has the highest labor taxes in the region, with dim consequences on the country's competitiveness and job creation, says APZD, a business lobby group. The total labor costs and net wages at a gross wage of €1,500:
| labor costs | net wage |
Slovakia | €2,043 | €1,143 |
Austria | €1,952 | €1,273 |
Czechia | €2,007 | €1,204 |
Germany | €1,802 | €1,197 |
The current Slovak government has increased both payroll levies and income taxes. On average, taxes and levies eat almost half the labor costs here, compared to just over 40% in Germany, 45% in Czechia and 39% in Austria.
