Slovakia has higher labor costs than Czechia

Slovakia had the 11th lowest labor costs in the EU last year, while its 2016 figure was the 8th lowest, Eurostat data show. Slovakia even overtook Czechia for the first time last year. In 2024, the average hourly labor costs in the EU economy were €33.5, up from €25.6 in 2016. Bulgaria had the lowest labor costs (€10.6), while Luxembourg (€55.2) was at the other end. Slovakia’s non-wage costs came to 27.2% of total labour costs in 2023, way above the EU average of 24.7%. Hourly labor costs in neighboring countries:
