Slovakia has gas for 30 days and oil for 120 days
Slovakia is working hard to reduce energy dependence on Russia, said Economy Minister Richard Sulík. Gas storage facilities are starting to fill up today (if Russia does not halt supplies), gas utility SPP has already ordered its second liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker, and eustream is building a pipeline to Poland so that Slovakia can take gas directly from Polish LNG terminals. SPP still pays for gas in euros and rejects Russia's demands for payments in rubles. Slovakia backs EU’s joint gas purchases. The current stocks of natural gas in Slovakia will last 30 days as the gas storage facilities are 26% full.
Slovakia’s crude oil stocks will last 120 days and companies Slovnaft and Transpetrol have further stocks. Oil refinery Slovnaft is able to import crude oil from Croatia via the Adria pipeline.
