EU bank profits improved in the third quarter of 2021, an EBA report shows. The state pandemic assistance propped up banks and drove down volumes of non-performing loans. The profits stabilized at levels higher than before the pandemic. Slovak banks report a return on equity (ROE) of 10%, well above the EU average of 8%. (trend.sk) In January-November 2021, Slovak banks posted a net profit of €678m, up 60% annually. They no longer pay a banking levy and are reducing reserves against bad loans.
