Renewable energy sources are road to hell, says Environment Minister

The Environment Ministry and employers' lobby groups agreed on a draft amendment to the Environmental Impact Assessment Act. The amendment should shorten and streamline permitting processes, aligning them with neighboring countries. It will also make it more difficult to obtain permits for wind and solar farms. “We don’t need any renewable sources, that’s the road to hell,” said Minister Tomáš Taraba, adding that Slovakia has nuclear and hydro power plants. New renewable sources will require approval from SEPS (power grid operator), ÚRSO (regulator) and municipalities.
