In 2021-23, the real estate cadaster often failed to meet the statutory deadlines for inputting land ownership data. The highest share of delays was in 2022, when almost a third of the applications were processed after the legal deadline of 15-30 days, according to a report by the supreme audit authority NKÚ. Interestingly, electronic applications, which were supposed to simplify the process, have made it more complicated and costly. This is due to the use of outdated hardware and multiple applications that are not linked. Cadaster employees tend to turn electronic applications into paper ones and only then process them.
