Prelika Prešov (Lipták family) is closing after selling its spirits production to Old Herold and its mustard division to Tomata. Prelika last posted a profit in 2020, with €3.4m in sales last year. The new owners have shifted production to their existing plants, but want to retain markets in eastern Slovakia with the original brands. Old Herold (Miroslav Maxon and Rastislav Machunka) is Slovakia’s second-largest liqueur company with €20m in annual sales. Tomata (Zoltán Száraz) is No. 2 in domestic mustard sales, behind only Snico.
