Police arrested Penta partner Jaroslav Haščák and charged him with corruption
The police arrested Penta partner Jaroslav Haščák and charged him with corruption and money laundering. They allege that in 2006-08, Haščák paid €194,000 to Ľubomír Arpáš, the then counterintelligence head of secret service SIS, for original wiretaps of the Gorila dossier. Arpáš was arrested and charged last week. In 2005-06, SIS wiretapped Haščák’s secret meetings with politicians in which they discussed corrupt deals with the state. Penta and Arpáš claim the payment was for consulting services. Penta’s HQ was raided by tens of heavily armed policemen, in what Penta called unjustified demonstration of power. They might have been fishing for proof of Haščák’s dealings with Marian Kočner, whose dubious deals had been financed by Penta’s banks.
