PM Eduard Heger called on mandatory vaccination for seniors

PM Eduard Heger called on mandatory vaccination for seniors, as over 80% of Covid-19 patients in hospitals are unvaccinated seniors. If the situation keeps deteriorating, he will push for lockdown. In addition to antivax parties Hlas, Smer, and ĽSNS, coalition parties Sme rodina and SaS also oppose such vaccine mandate. The Slovak legislation allows for adoption of mandatory vaccination, the Justice Ministry’s analysis showed. As the coalition is unlikely to adopt a vaccine mandate, a total lockdown is likely this week once the number of Covid-19 patients in hospitals tops 3,200 (it stood at 3,004 on Sunday).
