Pavol Konkoľ rejected a plea bargain in tax fraud case by his poultry companies

Businessman Pavol Konkoľ rejected a plea bargain in the case of tax fraud by his poultry processing companies on Monday. Also charged in the case are his wife Hana Konkoľová, their business partner Jozef Lukáč, and Anna Petik Modrák, who arranged for the issuance of fake invoices. These companies owe €30m in taxes. Hydina SK, which went bankrupt in January this year, owes €6m, Hydina Slovensko €20m, Podtatranská hydina €3m, Best Meat €1.7m and Konkoľová €1.6m. Konkoľ says that according to the plea he would go to jail, which he cannot do because he has to manage his companies with 1,300 employees. He acknowledges that he may receive a higher sentence in the future.
