Orange is slowing down Slovak investments

Telecoms operator Orange, which has reported over €1bn net profit in Slovakia over the past decade, is rolling out its 5G network very slowly and is reducing the pace of investments into its optical network, too. In 2017-19 it covered 155,000 households but just 30,000 over the past 12 months. At the end of June, its network covered 560,000 households. To compare, Slovak Telekom improved its optical network coverage by 115,000 to 815,000 households in the previous 12 months. Orange and Slovak Telekom signed a contract on sharing their optical networks, and Orange can offer its services to 970,000 households.
