Optical fiber coverage will increase from the current 46% of households to 83% in 2027, a survey of telecoms operators by regulator ÚREKPS has shown. Coverage will be highest in eastern Slovakia (95%), while Bratislava's relatively poor coverage (68%) stems from the extremely high cost of covering some parts of the city, especially the center. The state wants to subsidize the construction of fiber-optic networks in selected locations where it is not worthwhile for operators.
