Number of parcel pick-up boxes will have to triple to keep up with demand

Bratislava has 640 self-service and manned parcel pick-up boxes from several companies, and their number will have to triple by 2029 to cover growing demand, says Packeta director Alexander Jančo. The capacity will have to increase across Slovakia, which has 12 pick-up points per 10,000 inhabitants, compared with 38 in Poland. Increasing capacity will also help the e-commerce sector reduce its carbon footprint. Courier companies are also reducing theirs by switching to electric cars; Packeta wants most courier vans to be fully electric by 2027.
